Gujarat Refinery wins PetroFed Award for Excellence in Project management

In the recently concluded PetroFed Awards 2011, Gujarat Refinery has been awarded for Excellence in Project Management for MS/HSD quality improvement and Residue Upgradation Project (RUP). The award was given by Hon’ble Petroleum Minister, Mr. Jaipal Reddy,at a glittering ceremony held in New Delhi.

After approval in 2007 from the IndianOil board, the MS, HSD quality upgradation and RUP project were completed in record duration of 38 months and 41 months respectively. Both the projects, implemented in operational refinery, have set safety records. Despite hurdles such as space, mobility, safety and security, interfaces, all process units and other associated facilities were commissioned with hundred percent safety. It is an exemplary safety record of ‘Zero Loss Time Accident’ and a total 97.06 Million Safe Man-hours were recorded for these projects.

Gujarat Refinery is the first IndianOil refinery to commission VGO-HDT unit with an installed capacity of 2.1 MMTPA. The Coker unit of 3.7MMTPA is Asia’s single largest Coker Unit with drum size of 9.8 meter diameter.

With these installations of these projects, Gujarat Refinery has broken its previous records. In the year 2011-12, Gujarat Refinery has processed 14.24 MMTPA crude against the designed capacity of 13.7 MMPTA. Additionally, it also complies with the industry demands for BS III & IV quality of MS and HSD product.
